We live in a culture of violence where attack and defense have become normalized, accepting the unacceptable. To live nonviolently is to change our perception of the world and all people. To be actively nonviolent is to become courageous in opposing violence in all its forms.

To practice peace is to redirect disturbing thoughts to realize that you have the power to see things differently, or you can merely dismiss offending ideas. Let them pass through without becoming stuck in your head. Our behavior follows. It works, and it takes practice, practice, practice.
